It all began because all my nieces and nephews live in another country — some of them on another continent altogether.
Trying to find a way to feel close to them, beyond the video call, I came back to what I have always loved: giving something personal. I had already given them clothes embroidered with their names, engraved wood with personal details, photo albums, cutlery with their initials. But I had nothing personal for them to color and paint.
At the same time, my mother — sick with cancer — had discovered the calm of painting mandalas. Her medical team told me the same thing happened with Alzheimer patients. Coloring was not just a pastime: it was a refuge.
